Derek Black, British Pageant core cast member from Ireland and Gloria Lloyd, Pageant Communication team member from the US discovered ancestral links through their participation in the British Pageant. Their forebears connected 184 years ago when Gloria’s ancestor, William Clayton taught and baptised Derek’s ancestor, William Black as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Manchester, UK on 14 January 1839.

The first ever applicant to serve in any capacity for the very first British Pageant was Jonathan Mace, now a husband and father, a Chartered Accountant and Choreography Lead for this year’s 2023 British Pageant in Chorley, Lancashire.
He said he was willing to work in any capacity and do whatever was needed from being a production runner to making photocopies. Fortunately for audiences then and now, Jonathan was asked to be a member of the choreography team in 2013 and created some of the steps which are still part of the Pageant choreography in 2023…

Europe Area Presidency issues letter of postponement to Church leadership throughout the UK and Ireland
Considering current events in Europe, Elder Massimo De Feo, President of the Europe Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elder Erich W. British Pageant Presidency, leadership and creative teams at work preparing for Pageant
The Europe North Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced that the British Pageant will be held over two consecutive weeks: Wednesday 2nd to Saturday 5th and Tuesday 8th to Saturday 12th August 2023 in Chorley, Lancashire.
The Pageant, which is one of only three globally sponsored pageants of the Church, features a cast and crew of several hundred volunteers who will celebrate through song, dance, and the spoken word, the remarkable contributions of early British and Irish converts to the Church and to the mid-19th century religious revival.

More than 300 people have donated their time and talents to making costumes for the British Pageant, to be held this August in Chorley, Lancashire in England.
The pageant reenacts the story of Heber C. Kimball, the first missionaries to England and early converts to the Church in England through words, song and dance.
The volunteers throughout Ireland and the U.K. have combined their efforts over the last two years to create costumes for pageant cast, choir members, and dancers, the Church’s United Kingdom Newsroom recently reported.

Following the announcement from the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles that the British Pageant is one of only three authorised globally – a new Pageant Presidency has been called.
Craig Wright (President), Paul Elvidge (1st Counsellor) and John Deacon (2nd Counsellor) have been called and set apart to serve under the direction of the Europe Area Presidency, for the pageant in 2022.
